The Twin-Keeler
Newsletter
Twin-Keeler began in the summer of
1997 as a quarterly newsletter for owners and admirers of
twin-keeled sailing craft. It was started by Craig Anderson
and Brian
Backstrand of the USA who both owned twin-keeled sailboats.
Seeing very little in North American sailing magazines about
twin-keelers, they decided to create a newsletter for this market
niche
and use it to feature twin-keeled design theory, twin-keeled (amd
bilged-keeled) boats and the do-it-yourself projects and
cruising
stories of their owners. The quarterly grew from 6 to
28 pages.
Seven years
later, however, Anderson and Backstrand realized the 'wind was out
of
their sails' and decided to pass on the responsibility for Twin-Keeler
to us, George Bollenbacher (USA) and Jens Kuhn (Sweden). We have
decided to transform Twin-Keeler from a
surface-mailed quarterly to a two-part Website.
Half of the Website
will be devoted to subscriber access to current issues of Twin-Keeler
in pdf format. We will also try to create an archive of back issues or
at least interesting articles from earlier issues. The other half of
the Website will be a portal to sites
devoted to the many types and models of twin-keelers. For those
without computer access, we will continue to provide Twin-Keeler
in a
hard-copy edition each quarter.
We are both owners of Alacrity 19
twin-keeled
sailboats. We share a common commitment to these special boats as
we
know you do. We are happy to welcome you to our new
international
Website. We hope that many of you--past readers as well as
new--will
sign on as subscribers to our quarterly newsletter and web
page.
An electronic subscription is $10/year,
and a
paper subscription is $15/year
